MBC Explores PH Business Growth Opportunities
with Thai Officials and Executives
04 April 2023 – From March 26 to April 1, MBC was privileged to engage with Thailand officials and executives not once but three times: in Bangkok, at the residence of the Thai ambassador, and at the Thailand Week 2023 Expo in SMX Convention Center.
MEETING WITH THAI AMBASSADOR
On March 29, various points of collaboration in infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and trade were discussed between the Makati Business Club (MBC) and the Embassy of Thailand at the residence of the Thai ambassador in Makati City.
Ambassador Tull Traisorat hosted MBC’s board of trustees along with a Thai business delegation of high level representatives from companies such as Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) Philippines Corporation, SkyTowers Infra, Bangkok Bank, Italian-Thai Development, SCG Marketing, and Mariwasa, and other embassy officials. MBC Trustees present were Chairman Edgar O Chua, Rizalina Mantating, Jose Carlitos Cruz, Dr. Aris Alip, Manolito Tayag, and Executive Director Francisco Alcuaz Jr.
Some of the points of collaboration discussed were the expansion of Thai business in telecommunications and agriculture as well as the possibility of Thai-Philippine tourism collaboration where direct flights will be arranged from Phuket to key Philippine destinations such as Boracay, Palawan etc. to encourage wider tourism for both countries.
SHAPING PHILIPPINE-THAI BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE FEDERATION OF THAI INDUSTRIES IN BANGKOK
On March 27, MBC Foreign Programs Manager Trisha Teope met Federation of Thai Industries’ Director-General Jumrud Sawangsamud at the Federation’s office in Bangkok, Thailand to discuss collaboration between the two organizations – including but not limited to manufacturing, industry 4.0, agriculture, and circular economy.
THAI WEEK EXPO 2023
On April 1, Minister Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy Janthana Chotimunee introduced MBC Trustee Dr. Aris Alip to Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) Philippines Corp., Siam Cement Group (SCG Marketing), and other Thai companies at their 4-day trade show at SMX Convention Center Manila.
Thailand Week 2023 featured around 80 Thai and Philippine companies from March 30 to April 2 – following its theme, “Discover Excellence, Trade with Thailand.” The trade show was organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Ministry of Commerce in Thailand by the Thai Trade Center in Manila.
